Cpanel is exteremely useful for website maintenance, especially when a site administrator has to redirect a url. Nevertheless, not all website service providers give access to a cpanel. In other situations, when a cpanel isn’t available (like with a client’s server), then knowing some of these tricks can be helpful. Here is what you can do:

  1. Get access to the first and inital index.php or index.html or Default.htm (which ever it is, it has got to be the initial page)
  2. Download an open the html/php file in a text editor. I highly recommend SUBLIME for OSX or NOTEPAD++ for WIN8
  3. Place the following meta tag under your head tag. That is to say:

<meta http-equiv=”refresh” content=”0;URL= http://www.url.tld/newlink.html”>

EDIT the url to fit the new link. Save the edited file and reupload onto your site. Anyone visiting your site will be redirected to the new site.

My two cents! Stay Professional!
